When You’re Feeling Stuck
It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday chores of life. We tend to get so focused on what there is to do- clean the house, feed the kids, make dinner, grocery shop- you name it. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut where the days just seem to blend together. As a Mom, when you get stuck in that you tend to feel unappreciated and it can be hard to find joy in the everyday.
I’ll be honest, I’ve been there lately. Part of me can feel stuck, while the other half knows that if I stay there, I’m missing out on the best days. The days where my children are small and full of wonder, where they find joy in something as simple as a box or a toilet paper roll. I found myself getting frustrated the other day as Abigail unrolled the toilet paper for the hundredth time. Didn’t she know that it was wasteful and I was tired of cleaning it up? Of course not! To her it was magical, something new and exciting that she learned she could do.
I’m slowly realizing that if we let ourselves, we can look at life that way too. As adults, we can still find wonder in the everyday and joy in the simple moments. We can still have peace in the midst of a chaotic and busy schedule. We just have to learn to slow down. Going a hundred miles an hour is nice, but at some point, it always ends in a burnout. A rushed life doesn’t always mean a full life. How does the saying go, slow and steady wins the race?
I don’t know about you, but I’m going to commit this year to being slow and steady. It doesn’t matter how fast I go if it isn’t filled with purpose. Yes, I’m convinced that slow and steady is the way to go. A slower pace, filled with discipline, peace, and gratitude.
Thanks for following along on this journey, friends. I would love to hear how I can pray for you in the comments below!
